Facial volumisers are gel formulations containing Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body. When the HA molecules are bound together, they create a gel. The varying molecular sizes and degrees of bonding result in unique properties for each gel. When strategically placed beneath the tissue, these gels can restore lost volume, soften lines, build contours, and hydrate the skin.
At Nura Cosmetics, we embrace an ethos of less-is-more in our use of HA gels, ensuring that your results beautifully harmonise with your natural features. In every treatment, Hayley is guided by a principle of authentic enhancement – she will thoughtfully proceed only when the treatment promises to genuinely elevate your appearance.
At Nura Cosmetics, we know how complicated it can be to navigate through all the information in the world of aesthetic treatments. Our role is to guide you through this journey, and make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Our bespoke consultation appointments are all about crafting personalised, long-term treatment plans for our patients. We are here to understand your vision for your aesthetic goals over time, and work collaboratively with you to create a plan that algins with your budgets and timeline. We’re dedicated to ensuring a comprehensive approach to achieving facial harmony and enhancing your inner radiance.
During your consultation, we delve into all things skin health, address your specific concerns, explore available treatment options, and outline associated risks and benefits. This is an opportunity for you to openly ask questions and gain a deep understanding of your recommended treatment plan.
After identifying your goals, budget, and personalised treatment plan, we will walk you through every step, from pre-treatment preparation to post-treatment care. We set realistic expectations and ensure you feel well-informed and confident at every stage of your journey with us.
Facial volumisers are gels that add volume and fullness to areas of the face, reducing the appearance of hollowing and sagging, and volumising facial contours. The main ingredient of the gels are hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin and connective tissue. It is a type of sugar molecule that attracts and retains water, contributing to its hydrating properties.
Due to TGA advertising guidelines we are not able to advertise prices. All pricing enquires will be covered during an in clinic consultation.
When it comes to facial volumising, Nura Cosmetics does not have set volumes/prices for each area, such as “cheeks 2mls” or “jaw 3mls”. Every face is unique, and the volume required for each area of the face is determined by many factors such as age, gender, patient expectations, facial features, and lifestyle decisions.
Common treatment areas include lips, cheeks, lip lines, chin, tear troughs (under eye), jawline, marionette lines (down-turned/sad mouth), temples & nasolabial folds (smile lines).
Discomfort is minimal, typically mitigated by the use of a topical anaesthetic. The products also contain local anaesthetic.
However, lip treatments are typically more sensitive compared to facial treatments. At Nura Cosmetics we provide further anaesthetic for the lips (dental block) which is included in the price.
Generally, the gels are marketed to last between 12-24 months, however; there are recent MRI studies showing traces of the product still present in tissue many years after treatment. At Nura Cosmetics, we will not treat you just because it’s been 12 months since your last treatment. You will only be treated if it is deemed medically and aesthetically appropriate. Some areas will metabolise quicker than others, and it is also dependent on the patient’s individual metabolism.
Lip treatments are very likely to bruise, facial treatments are less likely.
Bruising can be minimised by avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements prior to treatment. Your practitioner will take precautions to reduce the risk of bruising.
Lips can have significant swelling for 2-3 days after treatment.
Also keeping in mind the common side effect of bruising.
It is best to schedule your appointments around important events and work commitments.
Results are visible immediately, with continued improvement over the following days as any initial swelling subsides. Optimal results are seen 3-4 weeks after treatment.
Yes, when administered by a skilled practitioner, facial volumisers provide natural-looking results. Initially after treatment, it can feel slightly hard, but after a few weeks the gel will integrate and soften, feeling and looking exactly like your natural tissue.
Yes, the gel can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase (Hyalase).
This enzyme is also used to dissolve the gel in the unlikely event of a complication.
At Nura Cosmetics we will not hesitate to suggest dissolving past treatments if the results look overfilled or poorly placed.
In some cases we will not treat the patient unless the old gel is dissolved first. This is very common in the lips and tear trough area.
Swelling: Swelling is a common side effect and usually occurs immediately or within the first few hours after the procedure. It can last for a few days to a week, depending on the individual and the specific product used.
Lips often result in significant swelling for 2-3 days.
Bruising: Bruising at the treatment site is also common and may appear as small, localised areas of discolouration. The bruising can vary in severity and typically resolves within a week or two.
Redness: Some redness or mild inflammation may occur at the treatment site, which is usually temporary and subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
Tenderness or sensitivity: The treated area may feel tender or sensitive to touch for a few days after the treatment. This tenderness is usually mild and should improve over time.
Itching: Itching or a mild sensation of tightness may be experienced in the treated area. This is generally temporary and should resolve on its own.
Lumpiness or unevenness: Initially, there may be signs of lumpiness or unevenness in the treated area. This is usually temporary and should smooth out as the product settles.
Rare complications: Although uncommon, there is a risk of more serious complications such as infection, allergic reactions, or vascular occlusion (blockage of a blood vessel). If you experience severe pain, excessive swelling, significant discolouration (blanching white, mottled skin pattern) or any concerning symptoms or are otherwise concerned, it is important to seek advice from Nura Cosmetics immediately. It is vital to seek treatment if you have a suspected vascular occlusion, if untreated the surrounding tissue can become necrotic (tissue death).
Another rare complication can be nodules/granulomas (hard lumps) that can form under the tissue months to years after the treatment. This reaction may be asymptomatic or have associated redness and swelling.
Pregnancy and breast feeding (treatment is discouraged due to limited safety evidence/ data).
Known allergy (anaphylaxis) to bees, lidocaine or hyaluronidase (Hyalase).
Acute/chronic illnesses (please disclose all known medical conditions).
Autoimmune diseases (please disclose all known medical conditions).
Infection at the treatment site: treatment should be postponed if there’s an active infection at the treatment site; it can proceed once the infection has cleared.
Medications: Some medications may interact with volumising treatments, please disclose all medications to your practitioner before treatment.
Recent vaccination: please wait two weeks before and after receiving any vaccinations.
Bleeding disorders: Those with bleeding disorders or on blood-thinning medications may have an increased risk of bruising and bleeding at the treatment site.
Implants, screws and/or plates located in the treatment area.
Unmanaged/undiagnosed mental health illnesses including but not limited to body dysmorphia.
Under the age of 18 years old.
If you experience the rare complication of a vascular occlusion during or after your treatment, the medication that is used to treat the blocked blood vessel is called Hyaluronidase (Hyalase) which is an enzyme found in bee venom.
Please refer to the post procedure after care page.
